I became using Microsoft Word as a child, but I did not begin to learn how to use it until middle school. We had a class teaching us to type and use Microsoft Office. I learned proper formatting, as well as how to properly write as a paper. I prefer to use Microsoft Word over Google Docs because I am able to navigate the software better than I do in Docs.

The most important ISTE Educator Standard would have to be the Collaborator. I believe that it is important to collaborate with your students, colleagues, as well as the parents to provide a better education for your students. By working with your students, you are able to change your teaching style to suit their needs. By working with your colleagues, you are able to share ideas and see which works for your classroom.

I agree to some extent with the "digital native". I believe children today are reliant on the technology, and it is affecting their behavior. My generation, I have found, is more tech savvy than my educators. I have seen students assist teachers with technology and help them repair and find shortcuts to operate their systems. With my future students, I want to limit technology. I believe that we learn better without the use of technology, and I would like to maximize the education of my students.

       I am a Florida State Student from a small town outside of Chicago, IL. I am Literature, Media, and Culture major, and I am a senior, graduating in the Fall of 2024. Living in Florida for the past three years has been a rollercoaster. While working on the Web Design Assignment, I learned how to create a website and personalize it. I also learned how to utilize Google Calendars as well as how to insert it into a website. I enjoyed being able to create a lesson plan that involved literature that is beneficial to students as well as literature that I am passionate about. I may want to incorporate these skills in the future by creating a website lesson plan for students and parents to keep track of assignments and announcements.  My Website I do not know much about AI. I do not use it in my day to day life. Seeing how AI is impacting the writing field as well as the film and education fields prevents me from using it. By relying on AI, it discourages students and adults do not use their imagination. By discouraging children to use their imagination, their brains will not fully develop and they expect every answer given to them. They may not learn how to be creative and provide their own ideas. EME 2040 has definitely been a positive experience for me. Creating lesson plans and researching teacher methods has made me reconsider what I would like to do with my career as well as assist me in receiving an education minor. I really like the class activities. They allow you to be creative while still being professional. That being said, I do feel like the assignments can be a lot to grasp, I am finding difficulty trying to gain knowledge about a certain platform to complete the assignment. I also find the creation of lesson plans difficult. I wish we had a template of what a lesson plan looks like so I can get a grasp as to what I need to include for my students. Open Educational Resources (OER) are resources available for teachers and students to use. They are usually covered under a license that allows free use of the resource.
